The Role

Ellea Nursing has an exciting opening for a Private Live-In Nurse, providing an invaluable service to Private clients and helping them secure quality time in the place they call home.

As a live-in nurse, you will reside within the client’s home on a rotational basis, delivering round-the-clock clinical nursing care tailored to each individual’s complex and evolving needs. You will work as part of a small, dedicated care team overseen by our Clinical Service Lead and Head of Service, while building a meaningful, trusted relationship with the client and their family.

This role suits an experienced, self-assured registered nurse who thrives working autonomously in a home environment and who takes pride in delivering care that goes above and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Please note: Specific duties are tailored to the individual client’s clinical requirements, lifestyle preferences, and home environment. A detailed, bespoke care plan is provided for every placement.

  • Clinical Management: Administration of controlled medication, wound management, catheter/stoma care, PEG feeding, tracheostomy care, ventilator support, pain and symptom management, and syringe driver management where required.
  • Holistic Care: Managing the client’s daily routine with dignity, including personal care, nutritional support, and emotional companionship.
  • Care Planning: collaborative working with our Clinical Lead to update bespoke care plans and risk assessments.
  • Support and Care: Support clients with complex conditions including neurological disorders (Parkinson’s, stroke, brain injury), cancer, palliative and end-of-life care, respiratory conditions, and post-operative recovery
  • Ambassadorial Standards: maintaining the highest level of professionalism, discretion, and respect for the client’s privacy and home environment.

Other Responsibilities

  • Accompany clients on stays away from home, including care-assisted holidays in the UK and abroad, maintaining the same world-class standard of care at all times
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, scans, treatments and hospital admissions, providing consistent monitoring and professional aftercare
  • Build rapport with clients and their families whilst maintaining professional boundaries and the utmost discretion
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, GPs, consultants, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Paediatric) with active NMC registration, valid PIN and a minimum of 12 months’ post‑registration UK clinical or hospital experience.
  • Specialist clinical expertise in at least one area, complex care, palliative care, oncology, neurology, paediatrics or critical/acute care, with the ability to make safe, autonomous decisions in a client’s home.
  • Exceptional communication and customer‑care skills, demonstrating warmth, sensitivity, professionalism and discretion.
  • Fully compliant to work, including Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and Right to Work in the UK.
  • Flexible and reliable, able to work live‑in rotational patterns and travel with clients when required.
